July Motorcycle Finance Rates: What Riders Should Know

Advertised low rates are tempting, but the real cost depends on your profile, bike and loan structure

July Motorcycle Finance Rates: What Riders Should Know?w=400

Australian riders have a fresh snapshot of the motorbike finance market, with Money.com.au updating its motorcycle loan comparison guide on 20 July 2026.
The table shows several advertised motorcycle and vehicle finance offers starting in the mid-five per cent range, led by a secured Harmoney car loan at 5.66% p.a.
with the same comparison rate, followed closely by Liberty and MoneyPlace secured vehicle products starting from 5.67% p.a.

For anyone planning a new or used bike purchase, the big takeaway is not simply that low rates exist. It is that the gap between the advertised interest rate and the rate a rider actually receives can be wide. Some products listed in the comparison stretch well into double-digit territory depending on the applicant, product type and risk profile. That matters for young riders, first-time borrowers and anyone rebuilding their credit history.

This is also a useful extension of the broader July interest-rate story. While the Reserve Bank’s June pause has helped keep many lending markets steadier for now, motorcycle finance is still priced individually. Lenders can look at your credit score, income, expenses, employment status, living situation, the bike’s age and whether the loan is secured against the motorcycle.

Secured loans may offer sharper advertised rates because the bike is used as collateral. That can suit riders buying a newer or higher-value model, but it also means the lender may have rights over the bike if repayments are not met. Unsecured motorbike loans can provide more flexibility, including funding riding gear or accessories, but they generally carry higher rates because the lender takes on more risk.

The latest figures reinforce why riders should compare more than the headline rate. The comparison rate, establishment fees, monthly account fees, early payout costs and extra repayment rules can all change the true price of a loan. A slightly higher advertised rate with fewer fees may be better value than a flashy low-rate offer with restrictive conditions.

Before signing, riders should compare their bike loan options based on their own borrowing position, not just a lender’s best-case example. It is also worth using a bike loan calculator to test different deposits, terms and repayment amounts. In a market where even a small rate difference can add hundreds or thousands over the loan term, a few minutes of homework can help keep the dream ride affordable.

Canstar’s latest personal loan coverage is a useful reminder for Australians planning a lifestyle purchase: the cheapest-looking loan is not always the lowest-cost option once fees, loan terms and repayment flexibility are considered. While the guidance is written for personal loans broadly, it has clear relevance for buyers considering jetski loans, especially when a personal watercraft is being financed outside a dedicated marine loan. - read more
Why ATO Interest Changes Matter for Small Business Finance
Why ATO Interest Changes Matter for Small Business Finance
25 Jul 2026: Paige Estritori
Australian small businesses carrying tax debt face a sharper cash flow test as the after-tax cost of ATO interest becomes harder to absorb. From the 2025-26 income year, general interest charge and shortfall interest charge amounts incurred on tax debts are no longer deductible. For SMEs that have relied on payment plans as a temporary buffer, the change makes delayed tax payments more expensive in real terms. - read more

Why Towing Safety Should Shape Your Caravan Buying Budget
25 Jul 2026: Paige Estritori
Recent towing-safety coverage across Australia’s motoring media is a useful reminder that choosing a caravan is not only about layout, appliances and off-grid features. For buyers planning to finance a new or used van, the safety numbers can be just as important as the purchase price. A caravan that looks affordable on paper may still become a poor fit if it pushes a tow vehicle beyond its practical limits or forces costly upgrades after settlement. - read more

A fresh round of fixed home loan discounting is giving Australian mortgage holders another reason to reassess their current deal, even as uncertainty remains around the next move from the Reserve Bank of Australia. Recent rate-tracking across the market shows more lenders sharpening fixed-rate offers, particularly across shorter terms, as competition for quality borrowers continues to build. - read more
