In a significant move towards sustainable boating, Seavolt, an Australian marine charging firm, has partnered with d'Albora Marinas to launch the country's first DC fast-charging network for electric boats.
This collaboration addresses the growing demand for eco-friendly marine solutions and positions Australia at the forefront of the global electric boating movement.

The partnership will see the installation of DC fast chargers across d'Albora's extensive marina network, which spans Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. The first installation is set to take place at d'Albora The Spit on Sydney Harbour, offering fast charging, berthing, boatyard maintenance facilities, and waterfront dining options.

Chris Cudlipp, CEO of Seavolt, emphasized the importance of establishing a charging network that delivers 100% renewable electricity to power Australia's waterways. He noted that d'Albora's prime marina locations are ideal for supporting the infrastructure needed for the burgeoning electric boating sector.

Julien Pouteau, Managing Director of d'Albora Marinas, highlighted the company's commitment to supporting emissions-free boating and providing sustainable services for users. He mentioned that customers are already showing interest in berthing new electric boats, indicating a shift towards greener marine practices.

This initiative comes at a time when the global electric boat market is experiencing rapid growth, with projections estimating an increase from US$5 billion in 2022 to US$16 billion by 2031. The establishment of a fast-charging network is a crucial step in facilitating this transition, ensuring that electric boat owners have convenient access to charging facilities.

For Australian boat owners, this development offers an opportunity to embrace sustainable boating practices. The availability of fast-charging stations will make electric boats a more viable option, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing environmental impact. As the network expands, it is expected to encourage more boat owners to consider electric alternatives, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable marine environment.
